The Stone Pony

The Stone Pony at 913 Ocean Ave in Asbury Park, New Jersey, is the most historically significant live music venue on the Jersey Shore and one of the most celebrated rock clubs in the United States. Opened in 1974, the venue became the launch pad for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, who played hundreds of unannounced sets on its stage during the 1970s and whose legend remains inseparable from the Stone Pony's identity. No elaborate craft-cocktail program exists, and that simplicity suits the venue's unpretentious character. Cover charges scale with the headliner, running $15 for local acts to $45 or more for nationally recognized names on weekend dates. Doors typically open at 7 or 8pm depending on the event, with sets beginning between 8 and 9pm and the bar staying open until 2am on show nights.
