Seasonal Breakdown

Detailed information for each season.

🌸 Spring

Mar-May

Spring is the ideal season for Nevada travel — temperatures are comfortable across the state, desert wildflowers paint the landscape, and crowds at outdoor attractions are manageable. Las Vegas temperatures range 18-28°C (64-82°F), perfect for exploring Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire. Lake Tahoe begins to thaw and trails open.

Tips: Pack layers — mornings can be chilly (10-15°C) while afternoons reach 25°C+; wild poppies and desert blooms peak in late March-April; book accommodations 4-6 weeks in advance for spring break periods

☀️ Summer

Jun-Aug

Summer in Las Vegas is brutally hot — temperatures exceed 42°C (108°F) regularly with extreme UV. The Strip becomes a series of air-conditioned oases, and pool culture dominates. Reno and Lake Tahoe have pleasant summers (25-32°C) and are far more comfortable for outdoor activities. Monsoon thunderstorms bring dramatic lightning shows to southern Nevada in July-September.

Tips: Schedule outdoor activities before 9AM or after 6PM in Las Vegas; drink 2+ liters of water per hour during outdoor activity; carry sunscreen SPF 50+; summer is actually a good time to visit indoor Las Vegas attractions

🍂 Fall

Sep-Nov

Fall is arguably Nevada's finest season — Las Vegas temperatures drop to the perfect 20-28°C range, Lake Tahoe blazes with fall color, and crowds thin after Labor Day. October and November bring cooler nights and exceptional atmospheric conditions for photography. Burning Man ends the summer season in early September.

Tips: September can still be hot in Las Vegas (35°C+) but October is near-perfect; Lake Tahoe fall colors peak in October; Reno's events calendar is packed with fall festivals; book accommodations early for October events in Reno

❄️ Winter

Dec-Feb

Winter is Las Vegas's second busiest tourist season driven by holiday travel, New Year's Eve, and Chinese New Year. Temperatures are mild and pleasant for sightseeing (10-18°C), making it an excellent time for desert hiking. Lake Tahoe transforms into a ski destination with reliable snowfall at elevation.

Tips: Las Vegas rarely needs a heavy coat; a light jacket suffices for evenings; mountain roads to Lake Tahoe require chain control — check NDOT road conditions; ski season at Mt. Rose and Diamond Peak begins December and peaks January-March
