Historic Inns of Annapolis

The Historic Inns of Annapolis is a collection of three eighteenth-century properties grouped at 58 State Circle in the heart of Annapolis's National Register Historic District in Maryland. The three inns — the Governor Calvert House, the Maryland Inn, and the Robert Johnson House — are operated as a unified hotel offering 124 rooms across the three buildings. The complex sits directly on State Circle, steps from the Maryland State House, placing guests at the geographic and political centre of one of America's oldest state capitals. Each property retains its distinct historic character. The Governor Calvert House dates to the mid-1700s and links a colonial structure to a nineteenth-century addition facing State Circle; the Maryland Inn is a four-story Georgian building occupying the prominent corner of Main and Church Streets; the Robert Johnson House offers quieter garden-facing rooms removed from State Circle's foot traffic. Together the three buildings provide an architectural immersion in colonial Maryland that no modern hotel in the state can replicate. Dining is anchored by the Treaty of Paris Restaurant in the Maryland Inn, a well-regarded establishment serving contemporary American cuisine in rooms where negotiations linked to the Treaty of Paris were reportedly conducted in the eighteenth century. The King of France Tavern, a basement pub in the Maryland Inn, hosts live music several nights a week and serves casual fare in a lively atmosphere popular with locals.
