Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q has been widely recognised as Atlanta's best barbecue restaurant since brothers Jonathan and Justin Fox opened it in Lake Claire in 2007, bringing Central Texas pit traditions to the Georgia capital. The brothers slow-smoke brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and sausage over oak and hickory for fourteen or more hours, producing meat with the dark bark and smoke ring associated with the finest Texas pit houses. The brisket — sold by the pound off the block — is the undisputed star, cut to order in thick slices and served with pickle, onion, and white bread in the Texas tradition. Beyond the pits, the Foxes have developed signature crossover dishes that blend their Texas roots with Atlanta's culinary landscape: Frito pie with smoked brisket chili, BBQ spaghetti, and hushpuppies have become Fox Bros. staples that set the restaurant apart from more orthodox pit houses. The dining room is a converted gas station and garage, with outdoor picnic tables beneath shade structures that transform the space into a backyard-party environment on warm days. A full bar serves craft beer, cocktails, and a whiskey selection calibrated to pair with smoked meat. The restaurant does not take reservations, and weekend waits of 45 minutes to an hour are common, particularly at the peak lunch window between noon and 2 PM. The best strategy for avoiding the longest waits is arriving when the restaurant opens at 11 AM, or arriving after 2 PM when the initial rush subsides.
