Barnsley Resort occupies 3,300 acres in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains near Adairsville, Georgia, approximately one hour north of Atlanta via I-75. The property is built around the ruins of Woodlands, an 1840s Italianate mansion commissioned by English cotton merchant Godfrey Barnsley — whose family story of ambition, tragedy, and Civil War destruction became one of the defining legends of antebellum Georgia. The preserved ruined manor house is open for self-guided exploration by guests.

The resort today offers a comprehensive sporting and leisure destination across its wooded acreage.
