Wynwood Walls

Wynwood Walls at 2520 NW 2nd Avenue in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood is an open-air museum and arts campus that has become one of the most influential public art spaces in the world, credited with catalyzing the transformation of a formerly industrial neighborhood into Miami's most creative district. Developer Tony Goldman established the original Wynwood Walls concept in 2009, commissioning world-renowned street artists to paint the exterior walls of warehouse buildings in a compact city block. The curated program brought artists including Shepard Fairey, Os Gemeos, and dozens more to create works at architectural scale, turning blank warehouse facades into a permanent outdoor gallery of exceptional quality. Today the campus has expanded to include the Wynwood Walls outdoor garden area (ticketed), surrounding blocks of murals freely accessible from the street, the Wynwood Doors interior art space, and the Wynwood Shop. The neighborhood surrounding the walls has grown around the art catalyst — galleries, craft breweries, fashion boutiques, and acclaimed restaurants now line NW 2nd Avenue and the surrounding grid, creating a walkable creative ecosystem that operates from midday through late night. The exterior street murals are always free to view, covering entire building facades along NW 25th Street, NW 26th Street, and the surrounding blocks. Art Basel Miami Beach in December transforms Wynwood into one of the densest concentrations of contemporary art in North America, with satellite fairs, pop-up galleries, and public installations overlaying the permanent neighborhood art. The first Saturday of each month brings Art Walk — free gallery openings throughout Wynwood — drawing crowds of locals and visitors to dozens of spaces simultaneously.
