Dogfish Head Brewery Tour

Dogfish Head Brewery was founded in 1995 in Rehoboth Beach and later expanded its production operations to a larger facility in Milton, Delaware. The brewery is one of the most recognized craft beer producers in the United States and a pioneer of experimental brewing using unconventional ingredients and historic recipes — a philosophy the founders describe as "off-centered ales for off-centered people." The Milton facility, approximately 20 minutes north of Rehoboth Beach via Route 1 North to Route 16, is the main production site for the brewery's wide range of beers including the flagship 60 Minute IPA, 90 Minute IPA, and Seaquench Ale.

Tours depart from the Tasting Room at the Cannery Village Center complex and run into the production brewery, where visitors see the large-scale fermentation tanks, the bottling and canning lines, and the innovation kitchen where experimental small-batch beers are developed. Tour guides — generally current brewery staff — walk participants through the brewing process, the history of Dogfish Head's growth from a small Rehoboth brewpub to a nationally distributed brand, and specifics of the beers currently in production. Tours last approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

The Tasting Room itself is a casual space serving flights and full pours alongside a food menu including flatbreads and charcuterie boards. A retail section stocks branded merchandise, limited-release bottles, and Dogfish Head branded goods not always available in wider distribution. An adjacent Hop Yard garden at the campus is planted with hops used in small-batch beers. Visitors under 21 are welcome on tours but cannot participate in alcoholic tastings. Tour reservations are strongly recommended for weekend visits during the summer beach season, when demand significantly outpaces available spots. The venue is family- and dog-friendly in common outdoor areas.
