Gertrude's at Desert Botanical Garden

Gertrude's Restaurant sits at the entrance to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix's Papago Park, one of the most dramatic natural settings for a restaurant in the American Southwest. The garden — 140 acres of curated desert plant life including towering saguaros, palo verde trees, and hundreds of Sonoran Desert species — wraps around the outdoor dining terraces, creating a dining environment that is simultaneously wild and civilised. The farm-to-table menu changes seasonally and draws on local Arizona farms and desert botanicals: prickly pear appears in glazes, sauces, and cocktails; local honey from Arizona beekeepers sweetens desserts; and seasonal vegetables from Phoenix-area producers fill the produce sections of the menu. The saguaro blossom salad and prickly pear pork tenderloin are recurring signatures. Cocktails lean heavily into desert botanicals — shrubs, bitters, and garnishes that reflect the garden immediately outside the window.
