Verde Valley Wine and Food Experience

Arizona's Verde Valley, threaded by the Verde River between the towns of Cottonwood, Cornville, and Jerome, has developed into one of the American Southwest's most surprising wine regions over the past two decades, and the Verde Valley Wine and Food Experience showcases this transformation across three or more winery visits in a single half-day. Jerome and Verde Valley Wine Tours has operated guided wine excursions through this territory since the early 2000s, building routes around the Verde Valley Wine Trail's concentrated cluster of estate wineries occupying former ranches and orchards at elevations around 3,500 feet. The five-hour tour visits three anchor properties on the trail. Page Springs Cellars, located along Oak Creek near Cornville, is one of Arizona's most acclaimed producers, known for Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grown in a warm-cool mountain climate that delivers structured, high-acidity wines comparable to southern Rhône Valley expressions. Pillsbury Wine Company, also operating from the Page Springs area, focuses on Viognier, Malbec, and Tempranillo with a minimal-intervention philosophy, offering tastings in a relaxed rural setting overlooking the creek corridor. Caduceus Cellars, co-founded by musician Maynard James Keenan and winemaker Eric Glomski above the former copper-mining town of Jerome, produces small-batch Mourvèdre and Tempranillo blends in a dramatic hilltop setting. At each winery, guide-led tastings are paired with Arizona artisan cheeses and charcuterie assembled from regional producers. Participants travel between properties in a climate-controlled vehicle. Group size caps at twelve and the experience requires no prior wine knowledge; guides provide structured context alongside free-pour tastings. The $125 ticket covers wine tastings at three or more wineries, food pairings, and transportation between properties. Individual wine bottle purchases are guests' responsibility to transport.
