The Imperial Bar

The Imperial Bar at 241 Front Street in downtown Juneau is the archetypal Alaskan dive bar: unpretentious, stubbornly local, and entirely uninterested in the trends driving bar culture elsewhere. Operating from a single-room space on Juneau's historic commercial strip, the Imperial has served as a gathering point for the city's fishing community, seasonal workers, local tradespeople, and bar regulars who value cheap pints and honest conversation over atmospherics. There is no cover charge, no reservations policy, and no dress code, and the Imperial would have it no other way. The interior is sparse and functional: pool tables in the back, a long bar running most of the room's length, and walls that carry the marks of decades of use.
