Lough Erne Resort

Lough Erne Resort occupies a 600-acre peninsula projecting into the waters of Lower Lough Erne in County Fermanagh, roughly five kilometres from Enniskillen town. The resort gained international recognition when it hosted the G8 Summit of world leaders in June 2013, and it remains the only five-star resort in Northern Ireland. The Fermanagh Lakelands surrounding the property are a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the setting — water on three sides, with wooded shores and the lough islands visible from most vantage points — is exceptional.

The resort's main building is a purpose-built contemporary structure that maximises the lakeside panoramas through extensive glazing. Accommodation runs from Classic and Deluxe Rooms through to Lough View Suites with private balconies overlooking the water. All rooms feature luxury bedding, oversized bathrooms, and the calm, unhurried atmosphere of a destination resort rather than a transit hotel.

The Nick Faldo-designed championship golf course is the centrepiece of the leisure offering — 18 holes running along the lough shore with island and water views on multiple holes. The Thermal Spa is the most extensive in Northern Ireland, with indoor pool, hydrotherapy pool, steam rooms, saunas, ice fountain, heated relaxation lounges, and a full treatment menu. Boat hire allows guests to explore Lough Erne's islands, several of which contain early Christian monastic ruins.

The Catalina Restaurant serves fine dining with panoramic lough views; its menu draws on Fermanagh and wider Ulster produce — Lough Erne lamb, local game, and freshwater fish. The more informal Lakeview Bar provides all-day dining and afternoon teas. The resort is popular for weddings, romantic breaks, golfing trips, and corporate retreats, with dedicated event spaces capable of handling large groups.
