Fabric is a three-room nightclub in Farringdon, London, occupying a former cold storage facility beneath Smithfield Meat Market. Opened in 1999, it became rapidly and enduringly one of the world's most important clubs, with a reputation built on rigorous music programming, exceptional sound design, and a deep commitment to the London dance music community. That reputation survived even a widely publicised closure order in 2016, which was reversed following an unprecedented public campaign; the club reopened in 2017 with enhanced safeguarding measures and remains one of the city's most significant cultural venues. Fabric operates two primary weekly nights. Fabric Live on Fridays programmes drum and bass, hip-hop, and bass music, with a roster of resident and guest DJs drawn from the international elite of those genres. Fabric on Saturdays shifts toward techno, house, and electronic music with an equally world-class booking policy. Room one features a vibration floor — a sound system technology that transmits bass frequencies through the floor itself, creating a physical as well as auditory experience that is unique to this venue. The crowd is predominantly 20s and 30s, knowledgeable about music, and drawn from London's broad and international dance music community. Fabric is not a glamorous or bottle-service venue; it is a serious clubbing destination where the music and the dancefloor are the only priorities. Dress is entirely democratic — streetwear, club wear, and functional dancing clothes are all equally appropriate. The door team focuses on behaviour rather than appearance. Entry prices run approximately £15–25 depending on the night and the headliner. The club runs until 6am on Fridays and 8am on Saturdays. Peak hours are 2am–5am when the most dedicated element of the crowd has settled in. Farringdon tube station, on the Elizabeth, Circle, Metropolitan, and Hammersmith and City lines, is a five-minute walk from the entrance.
