- Spring
- March to May is excellent - wildflowers in bloom, mild temperatures, occasional rain brings green hills. Best season for wadi hiking.
- Summer
- June to September is extremely hot (40-48°C). Only Jebel Jais at altitude remains tolerable. Early morning starts essential, finished by 8am.
- Fall
- October to November sees cooling temperatures and excellent conditions for all trails. Post-summer rains can create temporary waterfalls.
- Winter
- December to February is peak hiking season with mild temperatures (15-25°C). Some mountain trails can be foggy, occasionally cold at altitude.

Hazard: Extreme heat - UAE summer temperatures can exceed 48°C. Carry 3-4 liters water minimum, start before sunrise
Hazard: Flash floods in wadis - heavy rain can cause rapid flooding in narrow canyons. Check weather forecasts
Hazard: Loose scree and rocky terrain - ankle injuries common, sturdy footwear essential
Hazard: Sun exposure - UV index extreme year-round, wear factor 50+ sunscreen and sun hat
