NEVER photograph military checkpoints, soldiers, damaged buildings, or military infrastructure — this is illegal in wartime Ukraine and can result in arrest and equipment confiscation
Ask permission before photographing individuals at close range; Ukrainians are generally friendly about being photographed but wartime sensitivity means some prefer not to
Lviv's Old Town has the highest density of photogenic architecture in Ukraine — devote at least one early morning to exploring before the tourist crowds arrive
