The Slate Phuket

The Slate is a resort hotel on Nai Yang Beach in the Sakhu subdistrict of Thalang district, Phuket, on the island's quieter northern coast approximately 5 kilometres from Phuket International Airport. The property is distinctive for its conceptual narrative: every design element, from charcoal-grey concrete finishes and rusted metal detailing to repurposed mining equipment in communal spaces, references Phuket's 19th-century tin-mining heritage. The resort opened in 2015 following a complete transformation of the former Indigo Pearl property and is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. Accommodation comprises 228 rooms, suites, and pool villas across several building types named after mining roles — the Tin Miner, the Stoke Hole, the Pearl Suite. Rooms at all levels are notably spacious by Phuket standards, and pool villa units include private lap pools set within walled garden courts. Multiple swimming pools are spread across the resort's extensive gardens, the largest being a free-form Andaman-facing pool adjacent to the beach. Dining spans three venues: Black Ginger, a striking Thai restaurant reached by a flat-bottomed punt across an ornamental lake, is the culinary centrepiece and a Phuket landmark in its own right; Tin Mine serves international fare in an industrial-themed setting; and the Pool Bar caters for casual daytime dining. The Coqoon Spa offers signature treatments including hot stone massage and mineral body wraps. Nai Yang Beach, directly in front of the resort, is one of Phuket's least-developed stretches of coast, with calm water and minimal vendor activity.
