Luzern (Lucerne) is a lakeside city in central Switzerland, known for the Kapellbrücke, its medieval Old Town and views of Pilatus and Rigi across Lake Lucerne.
Luzern's nightlife is compact and centred on the Pilatusstrasse and Hirschmatt area in the Neustadt, the Reuss riverfront in the old town, the hotel bars along Haldenstrasse on the lake and the music venues around Tribschen. The city is small, so a night out is a walk of a few minutes between venues. Rooftop bars with lake and Alpine views are a local speciality, and the scene is quieter and earlier than in Zürich: a beer costs CHF 5-8 (~$6-10 USD) and a cocktail CHF 16-22 (~$20-28 USD).
A mix of rooftop lounges, cocktail bars, a few DJ clubs and concert venues. Clubs are fewer than they used to be, so check the venue's programme before going out. Hotel bars on the lake are quiet and smart; Pilatusstrasse is the liveliest street for drinks and dancing.

Nightlife tips
Stay safe and have fun.
Bars fill from 8:00 PM, clubs from 11:00 PM; arriving earlier means paying drink prices for an empty room.
Late trains and buses run less often on weeknights; check the SBB app or VBL Luzern timetable before leaving, and plan a taxi or walk back for after 1:00 AM.
Bring photo ID; clubs and the casino enforce the 18+ age limit and may check passports.
Carry a debit or credit card; Swiss bars accept cards and Twint, and tipping means rounding up.
Keep valuables in a front pocket around the station and Pilatusstrasse; Luzern is safe at night but busy venues attract pickpockets.
Taxis are expensive (a city ride is typically CHF 15-30 (~$19-38 USD)); the centre is walkable in about 15 minutes end to end.
