  • Narrow paths on Pilatus summit ridge — vertigo risk; stay on marked paths
  • Altitude — some visitors feel effects above 2,000m (headache, shortness of breath); acclimatize with lower walks first
  • Wildlife — chamois and marmots are common; do not feed or approach wildlife
  • Biting insects — midge protection advisable in July-August near moorland areas in Entlebuch
