The Chedi Andermatt

The Chedi Andermatt is a full-service luxury resort at Gotthardstrasse 4 in the Urseren Valley town of Andermatt, at 1,444 metres above sea level in the Swiss Alps of the canton of Uri. The hotel opened in 2013 as the anchor property of the Andermatt Swiss Alps resort development, a long-term project transforming a historically quiet garrison town into a year-round Alpine luxury destination. GHM Hotels, the same group behind The Chedi Muscat in Oman, brought a distinctive Asian-Swiss design sensibility to the property: interiors blend Japanese-influenced materials — dark slatted wood, polished stone, hand-woven textiles — with Alpine elements such as rough-hewn granite walls and panoramic mountain-view windows. The 123 rooms and suites include some of the largest in any Swiss mountain hotel, with loft suites rising to seven-metre ceilings. Dining options span three venues: The Restaurant serves European and Asian-fusion cuisine under an extraordinary 35-metre arched ceiling lined with wood shingles; The Japanese Restaurant focuses on precision sushi, teppanyaki, and sake pairings; and The Bar offers the same architecture in a lounge setting. The spa extends across 2,400 square metres and includes what is billed as one of the longest indoor hotel pools in the world at 35 metres, alongside a cold plunge pool, hammam, and a broad treatment menu. In winter, the hotel provides ski-in/ski-out access to the SkiArena Andermatt–Sedrun–Disentis, which covers three linked valleys and over 120 kilometres of piste. In summer, the same corridors become mountain biking and hiking terrain, and the adjacent Robert Trent Jones II golf course opens from May to October.
