Stockholm Nightlife Guide 2025
Discover the best bars, clubs, and evening entertainment in Stockholm.
Stockholm, Sweden's stunning capital, spans 14 islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea, creating a city of breathtaking waterways, medieval history, and cutting-edge design. As Scandinavia's largest city, it blends royal palaces and Viking heritage with a thriving food scene and world-class museums.
Stockholm's nightlife is sophisticated and varied, ranging from the glamorous clubs of Stureplan in Östermalm to the relaxed bars and underground clubs of Södermalm. The city has a strong beer and cocktail bar culture, excellent live music venues and clubs playing everything from house and techno to rock and hip-hop.

Nightlife Tips & Safety
Stay safe and make the most of your evenings.
Pre-drinking (förfest) is common among Swedes — Stockholm nightlife starts late so have a drink at your accommodation first
Bars close at 03:00; clubs may run until 05:00 at weekends
Stureplan clubs enforce strict dress codes — smart shoes, no trainers; Södermalm is much more relaxed
Many top clubs charge a 100-200 SEK cover after midnight — arriving before midnight often means no queue and no cover
Sweden's alcohol prices in bars are high — a beer can cost 75-120 SEK — budget accordingly
Systembolaget (state alcohol shop) closes at 18:00 weekdays and 15:00 Saturdays — no Sunday alcohol sales from shops
Never accept drinks from strangers in clubs — drink spiking does occasionally occur in busy venues
Safety Reminders
- Never accept drinks from strangers
- Keep your phone charged and have emergency contacts saved
