Yellow House

Yellow House is a small, independently run hotel on Rönngatan in central Malmö, identifiable by its cheerful ochre-yellow facade. Malmö Central Station is around five minutes' walk west, and the cobblestoned lanes of the Lilla Torg square — the social centre of the old town — are a 10-minute stroll east. The Öresund Bridge, connecting Sweden to Copenhagen in around 35 minutes by train, departs from the station nearby, making Yellow House a practical base for travellers combining both cities on a single trip.

The building dates from the early 20th century and has been converted into a hotel with a focus on straightforward value rather than luxury. Rooms are modest in size but maintained to a clean, functional standard; décor leans toward plain Scandinavian simplicity with white walls, wooden floors, and basic furniture. Most rooms have en-suite bathrooms, though a few smaller budget options share facilities. The included breakfast is a buffet of bread, cheese, cold cuts, yoghurt, and fruit, served in a ground-floor dining room that also functions as the hotel's sitting area.

Bike rental is available from reception, and Malmö's largely flat terrain makes cycling an efficient way to reach the Västra Hamnen waterfront, the Moderna Museet Malmö, and the beaches at Ribersborg — all within easy pedalling distance. Staff are known for being approachable and genuinely helpful with local recommendations. The hotel has no bar or restaurant beyond breakfast service, but the immediate neighbourhood has cafés and restaurants at every price point.
