Jeju Weather & Climate Guide 2025
Plan your trip with detailed weather information and seasonal tips for Jeju.
Jeju is South Korea's largest island province, located off the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula, renowned for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, pristine beaches, and unique cultural heritage. Often called the 'Hawaii of Korea,' the island is home to Hallasan, South Korea's highest peak, UNESCO World Natural Heritage sites, and the legendary haenyeo female divers. With a subtropical climate and year-round appeal, Jeju blends natural wonders with modern resorts.
Best Time to Visit
Best Months
April-May and October-November
Spring brings spectacular canola flower and cherry blossom blooms across the island with mild temperatures (15-22°C) and low rainfall. Autumn delivers clear blue skies, comfortable temperatures, fall foliage, and the tangerine harvest season without the summer's typhoon risk.
Months to Avoid
June-September (typhoon season)
Heavy monsoon rains hit in June-July, and typhoons can arrive from July through September. Rainfall in August-September can exceed 400mm monthly, trails close, and typhoon warnings disrupt travel plans significantly.
Climate Overview
Jeju has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cwa) warmer and wetter than mainland Korea. Winters are mild compared to the mainland (rarely below freezing at sea level), and summers are hot and humid with a significant rainy/typhoon season from June through September. The island's volcanic topography creates microclimates — Hallasan's summit receives snow in winter while the coast stays mild. Annual rainfall averages 1,450-1,900mm, making Jeju one of South Korea's wettest regions.

Seasonal Breakdown
Detailed information for each season.
🌸 Spring
March-May
Jeju's most celebrated season — canola flowers bloom in yellow waves across the countryside from late February to April, followed by cherry blossoms in early April. Temperatures rise comfortably from 10°C to 22°C, rainfall is moderate, and the island is stunningly scenic. One of the busiest travel periods.
☀️ Summer
June-August
Hot, humid, and often rainy — this is peak domestic tourism season when Koreans head to the beach. Temperatures reach 28-30°C with high humidity. The monsoon (jangma) brings heavy rains in June-July, and typhoons can arrive July-September. Despite weather risks, beaches are lively.
🍂 Fall
September-November
Jeju's second-best season with clear blue skies, comfortable temperatures (16-25°C), beautiful autumn foliage on Hallasan's slopes, and the tangerine harvest in November. Fewer crowds than spring, and hiking conditions are excellent for Hallasan summit trails.
❄️ Winter
December-February
Mild coastal winters (5-10°C) compared to mainland Korea, though the volcanic interior and Hallasan receive significant snowfall. The island is largely tourist-free except for major Korean holidays, offering a peaceful authentic experience. Camellia Hill reaches peak bloom November-February.
