The Silo Hotel

The Silo Hotel occupies the top six floors of the historic Grain Silo Complex at the V&A Waterfront, directly above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa and a short walk from the harbour, aquarium, and Cape Town's ferry terminals. The 1920s grain silo was reimagined by designer Thomas Heatherwick, who cut faceted, pillow-shaped glass windows into the original concrete tube structure, creating a building that reads as industrial heritage on the outside and glass-walled luxury within; it is part of the Royal Portfolio hotel group. The 28 individually designed rooms curve with the original silo tubes, several arranged as duplex suites, and most offer Table Mountain, harbour, or city views through the distinctive pillow windows. Dining includes the ground-floor Granary Cafe for casual meals and a rooftop Champagne and Cocktail Bar with 360-degree views across the harbour and mountain, alongside in-room dining. A spa occupies part of the upper floors with a heated pool and treatment rooms, and a gym is available for guests.
