Seasonal Breakdown

Detailed information for each season.

🌸 Spring

Apr-May

Transition from wet to dry season. April can still bring rain but conditions improve through May as the dry season establishes. Good time to visit with fewer tourists than peak dry season and improving visibility for diving.

Tips: Pack a light rain jacket for April. May offers excellent conditions and is an underrated time to visit with good availability.

☀️ Summer

Jun-Aug

Peak dry season and the best time to visit. Lower humidity, clear sunny days, and the calmest seas of the year. Excellent visibility for diving (20-40 metres in Iron Bottom Sound). These months see the most international visitors.

Tips: Book accommodation well ahead, especially island resorts. Bring high SPF sunscreen and stay hydrated. Best months for all outdoor activities.

🍂 Fall

Sep-Oct

The dry season extends through September with near-perfect conditions. October sees the start of the transition back to wetter weather. Still excellent for travel with fewer crowds than July-August.

Tips: September is arguably the best month — peak conditions with slightly fewer visitors than July. October brings occasional afternoon showers.

❄️ Winter

Nov-Mar

The wet season with heavy tropical rainfall, higher humidity, and risk of cyclones especially January-March. Not ideal for outdoor activities or diving. Some trails become inaccessible due to flooding. However, accommodation prices are lower and visitor numbers minimal.

Tips: If visiting in the wet season, stick to indoor activities (National Museum, restaurants). Cyclone risk is real January-March — monitor weather closely. Malaria risk also increases.
