Singapore Nightlife Guide 2025

Discover the best bars, clubs, and evening entertainment in Singapore.

Singapore is a vibrant city-state blending futuristic architecture, lush gardens, and diverse cultural neighborhoods. From the iconic Marina Bay Sands to historic hawker centers and world-class attractions, this island nation offers an unforgettable travel experience.

Singapore's nightlife punches well above its size — from rooftop sky bars with Marina Bay views to underground techno clubs and classic colonial hotel bars. The scene is sophisticated and expensive compared to regional neighbours, with a culture of quality over quantity.

Nightlife Overview

🌙
Scene
Lively and cosmopolitan, particularly Thursday to Saturday. Clarke Quay is the main backpacker and tourist nightlife zone. Duxton Hill, Boat Quay, and Ann Siang Road attract a more local and expat professional crowd. Marina Bay and Orchard areas offer the most glamorous venues.
🕐
Peak Hours
Bars fill up from 9PM onwards. Clubs hit their peak between midnight and 3AM. Many venues run happy hour from 5-8PM with buy-one-get-one or half-price deals.
👔
Dress Code
Smart casual enforced at most establishments — no singlets, slippers, or shorts at clubs and upscale bars. Rooftop and hotel bars lean toward smart casual to smart. Beach clubs on Sentosa are more relaxed.
💰
Average Drink
{'beer': 'SGD 10-16 at bars; SGD 3-5 at hawker centres (where available)', 'cocktail': 'SGD 18-28 at standard bars; SGD 28-45 at premium rooftop and hotel bars'}

Important Note

Bars typically close at 1-3AM. Clubs operate until 4-6AM on weekends. All venues follow strict no-drugs policies and alcohol service rules. Singapore's zero-tolerance drug policy carries mandatory death penalty for trafficking.

Nightlife Tips & Safety

Stay safe and make the most of your evenings.

💡

Happy hour (5-8PM) deals are widespread — buy-one-get-one-free or half-price cocktails at most bars, making pre-drinks significantly cheaper

💡

Reservations are essential at top cocktail bars like Jigger & Pony and 28 HongKong Street — walk-ins are rarely possible on weekends

💡

Take Grab home after midnight rather than waiting for post-bar MRT on weeknights — trains stop around 1AM Sun-Thu

Singapore is safe at all hours but the Geylang area, while safe by regional standards, is best avoided late at night for unfamiliar visitors

Safety Reminders

  • Never accept drinks from strangers
