Top Hiking Trails
The best hikes San Marino has to offer.
Passo delle Streghe (Path of the Witches)
easySan Marino's most iconic walk connecting the First Tower (Guaita) and Second Tower (Cesta) along the medieval ridge path. The trail follows the ancient city walls with dramatic drops on both sides offering breathtaking views over the valleys to the Adriatic coast.
Monte Titano Summit Circuit
moderateA loop trail circumnavigating the full perimeter of Monte Titano, visiting all three towers and the city walls. The path descends steeply at points and requires good footwear, but rewards with varying perspectives of the mountain and surrounding landscape including views toward the Apennines.
Borgo Maggiore to Historic Center Trail
moderateA traditional pilgrimage and traders' path ascending from the lower town of Borgo Maggiore to the historic center on foot rather than taking the cable car. The stepped path winds through native oak woodland with occasional viewpoints, providing an authentic sense of Monte Titano's natural environment.
Val di Rioveggio Nature Walk
easyA gentle valley walk through the agricultural heartland of San Marino passing through the small municipality of Faetano with its vineyards and olive groves. The trail follows a seasonal stream through mixed woodland and farmland, offering a peaceful contrast to the busy historic center.
Monte Titano Southern Slope Trail
moderateA less-traveled path following the southern ridge of Monte Titano from the Second Tower past viewpoints toward the Third Tower (Montale), then descending through the quieter southern neighborhoods of the historic center. Excellent for photography with fewer tourists and dramatic views over the Marche region.
San Marino Cross-Country Forest Trail
challengingA more ambitious full-day trail exploring the forested slopes of Monte Titano and surroundings, beginning at the Cailungo camping area and ascending through dense woodland to the summit ridge before circumnavigating the mountain. Challenging terrain requires proper hiking boots and navigation skills.
