Steeper and more technical than Gros Piton, requiring ropes and rock scrambling near the summit. Only recommended for experienced hikers with excellent fitness. The reward is extraordinary views from one of the Caribbean's most dramatic peaks.

Tet Paul Nature Trail
A short, manageable loop trail through agricultural land and forest, culminating in a spectacular viewpoint overlooking both Pitons and Soufrière Bay. The 'Stairway to Heaven' stone steps are a famous photo spot.

- June to August offers lush greenery but higher humidity; afternoon showers possible - start early

- September to November is hurricane season with higher rainfall; trails can be muddy and slippery; check conditions before setting out

- December to February is peak season with cool, dry conditions ideal for all trails including the Piton climbs

Hazard: Intense tropical sun - wear SPF 50+ and a hat even on forest trails
Hazard: Dehydration - carry at least 2 litres of water per person
Hazard: Flash flooding in ravines during or after heavy rain
Hazard: Manchineel trees (small apple-shaped fruits are toxic - do not touch or shelter under)
Hazard: Fer-de-lance snake present in southern forests - stay on marked trails and watch where you step
