- March to May - good conditions with lush greenery following wet season. Trails can be muddy from December-January rains. Ideal combination of green landscape and drying conditions.
- Summer
- June to August - warm and humid. Dry season has ended and trails are lush. Start hikes early (6AM) to avoid peak heat. Hurricane season begins June - monitor conditions.
- Fall
- September to November - hurricane season peak. Trails still hikeable but check weather forecasts carefully. Wetter conditions on upper elevations. Fewer other hikers.
- Winter
- December to April - the dry season and best overall hiking conditions. Cooler temperatures at elevation, minimal rain. Peak tourist season so popular trails busier. December to February optimal.

Hazard: Sun exposure and heat exhaustion on exposed trails - carry at least 2 litres of water per person
