Old City Pub

Old City Pub stands at Strada Șelari 16 in Bucharest's Centrul Vechi (Old Town), Romania, in the pedestrian lanes where much of the city's nightlife is concentrated. The decor is eclectic and medieval in style, with heavy furnishings and a cluttered, characterful interior that suits long, relaxed sessions. The crowd is casual and mixed, made up of locals, students, groups of friends and tourists, typically aged from the early twenties to the late thirties. No dress code applies, and jeans and everyday clothing are standard. Music is played at a background level, usually rock, pop and general pub favourites, rather than being the main attraction. The drinks programme focuses on local craft beer, with draught pints at about 15-25 RON (about $3-5 USD), making it one of the more affordable choices in the Old Town compared with the cocktail bars nearby. Spirits, simple cocktails and bar snacks are also available. Opening hours are daily from about 12PM to 3AM, so the venue works equally well for an afternoon drink or a late stop. Weeknights are quiet and easy for walk-in seating, while Friday and Saturday evenings become busy once the surrounding streets fill, particularly after about 9PM. There is no cover charge, and reservations are rarely needed except for large groups, who may be able to arrange a table by contacting the pub in advance. Bottle service is not a feature. The pub is often used as a first stop on a night out, because the low prices and easy atmosphere suit a start to the evening before visitors move on to cocktail bars or clubs a short walk away on Strada Smârdan and neighbouring streets.
