Herăstrău Lakeside Promenade runs along the shore of Lake Herăstrău inside Parcul Herăstrău (officially Parcul Regele Mihai I), the largest park in Bucharest, in Sector 1 off Șoseaua Kiseleff. It is not a swimming beach: swimming in the lake is not permitted, and there is no sand, surf or lifeguard service. Instead it serves as the city's lakeside leisure strip, with paved paths, shaded lawns and benches beside calm, dark-green water.

The lake is long and sheltered, so there is virtually no wind exposure or waves, and the water is used for boating rather than bathing. The promenade stretches for several kilometres, making it popular for walking, jogging, cycling and rollerblading, with different sections ranging from busy near the entrances to peaceful toward the quieter shores. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, with Bucharest residents picnicking on the lawns, children playing near the playgrounds and couples renting rowing boats or pedal boats. Amenities include lakeside cafes and restaurants, boat rentals, benches, public toilets in various spots and free entry to the park. Nearby cultural attractions include the Village Museum, an open-air museum of rural Romanian architecture located within the park, and the Arcul de Triumf at the southern end of Șoseaua Kiseleff. Access is easy by public transport. The M2 metro line stops at Aviatorilor, and the park entrance is a 5 to 10 minute walk from there; the metro timetable can be checked on metrorex.ro. Buses and trams also serve Șoseaua Kiseleff, and taxis can drop visitors at the main gates, while parking near the entrances is limited on warm weekends. The best period for visiting runs from May to September, when the trees are in leaf and the cafes are open; late afternoon and early evening are the most pleasant times. In summer, concerts and festivals are sometimes held in the park, which can increase crowds. Visitors wanting to swim should look to Snagov Lake or the Black Sea coast instead.
