Doha Festival City

Doha Festival City is a large shopping and entertainment centre on Al Shamal Road in Umm Salal Mohammed, north of Doha, Qatar. It is known for its wide mix of mid-range retail, including an IKEA store, ANF Fashion and a large number of international and regional brands, as well as outlet-style stores that appeal to bargain-minded shoppers. Its size and breadth make it a useful stop for household goods, clothing, electronics and family needs, and it differs from the luxury-focused malls in Lusail and West Bay by emphasising value and variety.

The goods are genuine branded products at fixed prices, so bargaining is not part of the culture, although seasonal sales and outlet pricing deliver reductions. Cards are accepted throughout, and cash in Qatari riyals (QAR) is accepted too. Visitors can ask participating retailers about the airport tax-refund scheme, which applies only to eligible purchases at registered shops. Because IKEA and large homeware stores sell bulky items, many visitors treat this mall as a resident-oriented rather than souvenir-oriented destination.

Entertainment is a strong feature, with a snow centre, a cinema and family play areas, so the mall is popular with children and groups. Weekends, particularly Thursday and Friday evenings, are busiest, and weekday mornings are comparatively quiet. The covered, air-conditioned layout is a convenient refuge in the hot summer months, and the large parking areas make it easy to reach by car.

Dining is extensive, with a large food court, international chains, cafes, sit-down restaurants and dessert counters, including options with outdoor seating. Prayer rooms, baby-care facilities and family services are provided. The mall is about 20 to 25 kilometres from central Doha, so visitors normally travel by taxi, ride-hailing or car. Opening hours are typically 10:00 to 22:00 and later on Thursday and Friday, though they can change during Ramadan and public holidays, so verifying with the mall is advisable.
