Porto Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) is the gateway to Norte Portugal, serving 15+ million passengers annually with flights from across Europe and North America. Porto city is served by a modern 6-line metro, extensive bus network, heritage trams, and funiculars. Intercity trains on the CP network link Porto to Braga (30 min), Guimarães (1 hr), and Viana do Castelo (1.5 hr) efficiently and cheaply. The scenic Douro Line runs east from Porto Campanhã along the river to Pocinho (3.5 hr). A car is strongly recommended for Peneda-Gerês National Park and upper Trás-os-Montes.
