Hotel Infante de Sagres has operated continuously on Praça Dona Filipa de Lencastre, a quiet square in Porto's Baixa district, since 1951. Built during the mid-20th century as a statement of civic hospitality, it was considered one of the most distinguished addresses in northern Portugal at its opening. The name honours the Infante Dom Henrique — Prince Henry the Navigator — the 15th-century Portuguese royal whose patronage of maritime exploration transformed global cartography. The square is a short walk from Avenida dos Aliados and connects through pedestrian lanes to Livraria Lello, the Clérigos Tower, and the Bolhão market.

The building's Art Deco interiors remain largely intact and are the property's distinguishing characteristic: geometric tilework, carved woodwork, decorative ironwork, stained glass panels, and intricately patterned ceilings define the public spaces. The 72 rooms and suites — distributed across Classic Rooms, Superior Rooms, Junior Suites, and a Senior Suite — carry the period aesthetic into guest accommodations, with parquet floors, high ceilings, and traditional Portuguese furnishings.
