Farol Hotel occupies a restored 19th-century aristocratic villa set directly on the Atlantic shoreline on the southwestern edge of Cascais, roughly 30 kilometres west of Lisbon. The original mansion — once belonging to the Count of Cabral — was converted into a boutique property while retaining the Victorian-era exterior and layering in contemporary art installations, rotating exhibitions, and custom furniture from emerging Portuguese designers throughout the interior, giving the hotel a gallery-hotel atmosphere uncommon on the Estoril Coast.
