Time Out Market Lisboa on Avenida 24 de Julho in the Cais do Sodré district is housed inside a beautifully restored 1892 iron-and-glass market hall — the Mercado da Ribeira — and is one of the most concentrated food destinations in Lisbon. The concept, launched in 2014 by the Portuguese Time Out media brand, gathers a rotating roster of stalls representing the city's most respected chefs and restaurants inside a communal dining hall with long shared tables, high ceilings, and an energetic atmosphere. On offer across roughly 35 concurrent stalls are dishes from some of Lisbon's most acclaimed kitchen names — including bacalhau preparations, seafood rice, bifanas, pastéis de nata, and contemporary tasting plates — alongside craft beer, natural wines, and cocktail bars. The produce market (the traditional Mercado da Ribeira) operates in the western hall adjacent to the food market and sells fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, and cut flowers independently. The overall space is loud, casual, and accessible; seating is communal and shared. Peak times are lunchtime (12:00–14:00) and early evening (19:00–21:00) on weekends, when queues at the more popular stalls can be 15–20 minutes. Weekday lunches between 12:30 and 13:30 are busy but manageable. The outdoor terrace on the Avenida 24 de Julho side provides some overflow seating. A single person can eat well for €15–25 including a drink.
