La Casona Hostel

La Casona Hostel operates out of a converted colonial-era house on Dr. Montero street, in the historic center of Asunción a short walk from the Plaza Uruguaya and the city's main bus terminal. The building retains original tile floors, high ceilings, and thick plaster walls that keep interior temperatures noticeably cooler than the humid street, while the layout opens onto a central courtyard strung with hammocks and shaded by mature trees. This courtyard functions as the social heart of the property, where guests congregate in the evenings and hostel staff often organize impromptu barbecues.

Accommodation spans both dormitory beds and private rooms. Dorms range from four- to eight-bed configurations with individual lockers and shared bathrooms; private rooms offer more seclusion with single or double beds. The shared kitchen is well equipped with gas stoves, a refrigerator, and basic cookware, allowing budget-conscious travelers to prepare their own meals. Laundry machines are available on site. The building also provides secure storage for bicycles and motorcycles, useful for overlanders passing through the Southern Cone.

The hostel targets independent backpackers, overlanders, and volunteer workers spending extended time in the capital.
