Kempinski Hotel Muscat occupies a seafront position on Shatti Al Qurum beach in the Al Khuwair district of Muscat, approximately six kilometres from Muscat International Airport and around 12 kilometres from the historic Mutrah Souq and Corniche. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque — one of Oman's most visited landmarks — is within 10 minutes by car.

The hotel opened in 2009 and comprises 310 rooms and suites arranged in a low-rise, arc-shaped structure that incorporates traditional Omani architectural motifs throughout: mashrabiya screens, arched colonnades, and geometric tilework drawn from Islamic decorative traditions. Guest rooms begin at superior sea-view categories and extend through deluxe, executive, and suite tiers; upper-floor rooms on the ocean-facing wing have unobstructed views of the Gulf of Oman. Interiors combine dark-wood furnishings with pale stone finishes and hand-embroidered textile details.

The private beach spans approximately 300 metres of white sand, with dedicated sun-lounger areas and beach waitstaff. The beach club operates two outdoor pools — one adults-only, one for families — and the deck is shaded by palm-thatched parasols. A water sports centre offers jet-skiing, kayaking, sailing, and snorkelling equipment rental, with qualified instructors available for guests with little prior experience.

Dining options include Al Maisan for international all-day dining, Sarao for Filipino and Southeast Asian cuisine, the Beach Grill for seafood and charcoal-grilled dishes, and the Aqua Lounge as a poolside bar. The breakfast spread is extensive, with a dedicated Arabic-breakfast station serving Omani khubz, harees, and fresh-pressed juices alongside international options.

The Kempinski Spa occupies a full floor with six treatment rooms, a hammam suite, hydrotherapy pool, sauna, and steam rooms. Business facilities include five meeting rooms and a ballroom accommodating up to 450 delegates. A dedicated kids' club operates during school-holiday periods, and the property is well-regarded for family travel as well as corporate stays.
