Hotel Granit

Hotel Granit occupies a traditional stone building in Ohrid's historic upper old town, on Kosta Abras street roughly 200 meters from the ancient Theatre of Ohrid and a five-minute walk downhill to the lakefront promenade. The surrounding quarter is dense with medieval churches — Sveta Sofija Cathedral is a short stroll away — making this one of the most culturally immersive addresses in the city. The building's stone facade and wooden balcony details reflect the regional Ottoman-era vernacular; interior spaces have been modernized while keeping the proportions of an older town house.

Rooms range from standard doubles to larger rooms with partial lake views. All have air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and satellite television. Beds lean toward firm European style, and bathrooms are compact but functional. Several upper-floor rooms face southwest toward the lake and catch afternoon light with views across the water toward the Albanian mountains.

The on-site restaurant and terrace serve Macedonian staples — grilled trout from the lake, tavche gravche (baked beans), and ajvar — alongside a short wine list drawn from local Tikveš wineries. Breakfast is a buffet of cold cuts, cheeses, olives, and pastries. The terrace wraps along the building's garden-facing side and is pleasant for evening meals in summer.

There is no spa or swimming pool; the lakefront beach is roughly ten minutes on foot. The front desk operates around the clock and staff speak English well enough to assist with excursions to Sveti Naum monastery, boat trips, and car rental. The property suits couples and independent travelers rather than families with young children or large groups.
