Lekki Conservation Centre

Lekki Conservation Centre lies about 30 km from Lagos Island along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, reachable in 45-75 minutes by Uber/Bolt or danfo bus from Victoria Island or Lekki Phase 1 depending on traffic. Managed by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, the reserve protects a stretch of coastal freshwater swamp forest and is best known for its canopy walkway, one of the longest suspended canopy walks in Africa, which threads between treetop platforms above the forest floor. Beyond the walkway, marked nature trails lead past a monkey sanctuary, a crocodile pond, and viewing towers used for bird watching, with mona monkeys and a range of resident and migratory bird species commonly spotted. A typical visit starts in the morning before the midday heat builds, moving through the ground-level trails first, crossing the canopy walkway, and finishing at the treehouse lookout point over the swamp forest. Food options on site are limited to a small snack kiosk near the entrance, so visitors planning a longer stay often bring water and snacks or plan a meal at one of the restaurants along the Lekki-Epe Expressway on the way back. The reserve is open year-round, but the dry season from November to March keeps the trails and canopy walkway drier and more comfortable underfoot, while the rains between June and September can make the ground trails muddy.
