Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht occupies a former public library on the Prinsengracht canal in the Canal Ring, a short walk from the Anne Frank House, Westerkerk and the Nine Streets shopping district. Dutch designer Marcel Wanders reworked the 19th-century building's interior with bold, theatrical patterns and oversized decorative pieces, giving the hotel a distinctly playful, design-forward identity rather than a traditional canal-house feel. Rooms range from Standard and Prinsengracht Rooms to suites and a Penthouse, several with canal views. Bluespoon serves as both restaurant and bar, offering all-day dining with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients, while a library lounge continues the building's original function as an informal lobby gathering space. There is a fitness center but no spa or pool. Bicycle rental and a concierge familiar with the surrounding canal district support both leisure travelers and business guests staying near the Jordaan and city center. The building's conversion preserved much of its original stone facade and grand windows, so from the outside it still reads as a civic library even though the interior is now unmistakably a design hotel, and its Prinsengracht address puts guests equally close to the quieter Jordaan streets and the busier Dam Square shopping routes, giving it a genuinely central footing in the canal ring.
