Palais Faraj Suites & Spa occupies a restored 19th-century palace built into the hillside on the southern edge of Fez el-Bali, near Bab Ziat and a short walk from the Bab Boujeloud gate that marks the medina's main entrance. The building retains its original courtyards, carved cedar ceilings, and zellige tilework, with the rooftop restaurant opening onto one of the widest panoramic views of the Fez medina available from any hotel in the city, taking in minarets and rooftops down to the surrounding hills. Rooms and suites are individually decorated in traditional Fassi style, several with private terraces, and the palace's original reception rooms have been converted into lounges and a bar. Dining centers on the rooftop restaurant, serving Moroccan classics alongside international dishes, with breakfast also served there overlooking the medina. The spa offers a traditional hammam, massage treatments, and a small heated pool, useful for resting after a day spent on foot in the medina's steep alleys.
