Los Dorados de Villa

Los Dorados de Villa is one of the most distinctive traditional restaurants in Zacatecas, built around a Mexican Revolution theme that transports diners into the era of Pancho Villa's Division del Norte the moment they walk in. The unusual house policy is that reservations must be made by phone in advance - the restaurant does not seat unannounced walk-ins - which keeps the small dining room from overflowing and preserves the feel of a private gathering. The menu centers on an extensive selection of enchiladas, served rojas or verdes with different fillings, alongside pozole verde and, seasonally, chiles en nogada. Decor leans heavily into period photographs, revolutionary memorabilia and rustic furnishings, giving the space a museum-like quality that draws as much interest for the setting as the food. Because reservations are mandatory, spontaneity is limited, but the payoff is a quieter, more personal dining experience than the busier restaurants along Avenida Hidalgo.
