X'Canche Cenote Zipline and Rappel

X'Canche Ecopark sits a short bicycle ride from the Ek Balam archaeological site in the Mexican state of Yucatán, and is managed as a community-run venture by the local Maya cooperative in Temozón. The core adventure activities are a zipline that runs across the cenote and ends over the water, and an optional rope rappel descent into the sinkhole itself, both aimed at first-time participants rather than experienced canyoners; the bicycle ride in over dirt paths requires basic fitness but no cycling experience. There is no strict minimum age, though smaller children are usually accompanied and may be limited on the rappel option. Harnesses, helmets, and zipline equipment are provided and fitted by cooperative staff before each run; visitors bring closed-toe shoes for the bike ride, a swimsuit for the cenote, and sun protection for the open sections of trail. Staff give a short safety briefing and demonstration before the zipline and rappel, and remain at both the platform and the water to assist and to help swimmers out after a rappel descent. The park operates year-round, and morning time slots are recommended both to avoid the midday heat on the bicycle ride and because visitor numbers build through the day as more groups arrive from Ek Balam. There is no strong rainy-season closure, though a downpour can make the dirt cycling path muddy and slower to ride. The package is generally considered a light-adventure activity suited to a broad range of fitness levels rather than a specialist or expert pursuit.
