The trail is broad and clearly marked with resort signage, staying on gentle grades suitable for casual walkers and families rather than the steep volcanic terrain found higher on La Malinche. Along the way, the path passes several viewpoints looking up toward the lower slopes of the volcano and through stands of tall pine that muffle sound from the resort below. There is no scrambling or exposed sections; the surface is packed dirt and pine needles throughout, with a few gentle stream crossings on simple wooden footbridges after rain. Because the loop returns directly to the cabin area, hikers can turn back at any point without losing the trail, and the resort's dining hall and restrooms serve as a natural base rather than requiring backcountry water carries. There are no huts or shelters on the loop itself, but the resort buildings are never more than a couple of kilometers away.
