La Malinche Flight Park Paragliding

La Malinche Flight Park runs tandem paragliding flights from a launch platform at roughly 3,100 meters on the lower slopes of La Malinche volcano in San Francisco Tetlanohcan Municipality, Tlaxcala. Each flight pairs a certified tandem pilot with a passenger, so no prior paragliding experience is required, though the high-altitude launch calls for reasonable mobility on uneven ground; the park generally sets a minimum age of around 8 years and a maximum weight limit for tandem passengers, and does not fly pregnant visitors or those with cardiac or spinal conditions. The wing, harness, reserve parachute and helmet are provided by the park; visitors bring closed-toe shoes, a warm layer for the cold launch platform, and sunglasses against the high-altitude sun. Pilots hold Mexican paragliding federation tandem ratings and carry radios to coordinate with ground crew at the landing zone below. Every flight begins with a briefing on launch running technique, in-flight body position and the standard parachute landing fall, and pilots continuously assess wind and thermal activity, delaying or cancelling launches when gusts exceed safe tandem limits; in the rare case of an in-flight emergency, pilots are trained to deploy the reserve parachute while ground crew track the flight for vehicle recovery. Flying operates year-round, but the most stable, non-turbulent thermals form November through April during the dry season; the June-to-October rainy season brings afternoon storm cells that frequently ground afternoon flights, so morning departures are preferred during those months. On clear days the flight path opens views across the Tlaxcala valley toward Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl.
