Tamaulipas is a northeastern Mexican border state stretching along the Gulf of Mexico coast to the US border at Texas. It holds the historic Gulf port city of Tampico, the twin-city border crossings of Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, and Matamoros, and the Sierra de Tamaulipas mountains.
