Zenzi Beach Club & Bar

Zenzi Beach Club & Bar sits directly on the sand in central Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, and has drawn a mixed crowd of expats, tourists, and locals since 2006. The atmosphere is barefoot-casual by day and turns social after dark, with no dress code beyond beachwear and swimsuits at the tables and light resort wear once the sun goes down; the crowd skews 20s to 40s, with a relaxed, unpretentious energy rather than a velvet-rope scene. Music runs from lounge and chill-out playlists during the afternoon to live percussion and resident DJs spinning house and electronic sets in the evening, often building around the nightly beach bonfire. The drinks programme centers on rum and tequila-based cocktails, piña coladas, and mojitos, alongside a solid beer selection and simple wine list; food is served alongside drinks, making it viable as a sunset dinner stop as well as a bar. Zenzi opens in the late morning for beach lounging and stays open into the night, with the busiest hours running from late afternoon through the fire-lighting at dusk and on into the evening; weekends bring a larger crowd and more live music than weeknights. There is no cover charge for walking in, though beach loungers may carry a minimum consumption during the day, and reservations are recommended for dinner tables during high season (December to April) but are not required to enter and drink at the bar.
