Puerta al Cielo Glass Skywalk, Barranca de Aguacatitla

Puerta al Cielo is a glass-floored skywalk platform suspended over the Barranca de Aguacatitla canyon near Zacatlán in northern Puebla, offering a view straight down through the transparent floor to the canyon below alongside sweeping views of the surrounding valley. The signature shot looks down through the glass floor to the canyon depths, or wide-angle frames capturing visitors standing on the platform with the canyon and distant hills as backdrop. Midday light gives the clearest visibility into the canyon depths beneath the glass, since direct overhead sun reaches further down the ravine walls than the low-angle light of morning or evening, which tends to leave the canyon floor in shadow. Visibility is best November through April, when skies are typically clear; cloud and mist more frequently roll into the canyon during the rainy season from May to October, sometimes obscuring the view entirely. The platform can draw queues on weekends and holidays since only a limited number of visitors are permitted on the glass floor at a time, so a weekday visit or early arrival shortens the wait for an unobstructed shot. There is an admission fee to access the skywalk, tripod use on the platform itself is generally restricted for safety and crowd-flow reasons, and a polarizing filter helps cut glare reflecting off the glass surface. The platform is reached via a paved walkway from the entrance, requiring no hiking.
