Sayulita Mercado del Pueblo

Sayulita Mercado del Pueblo is a weekly community market held on Revolución street in the center of Sayulita, Nayarit, running Fridays from 9AM to 2PM between November and April. Unlike the souvenir stalls that line the town's beach walk, this market caters primarily to residents and seasonal visitors shopping for the week: crates of local produce, fresh-squeezed juices, prepared regional food such as tamales and birria, and a smaller run of handmade jewelry and woven textiles from Nayarit artisans. Vendor quality is mixed but generally authentic, since sellers are local growers and home cooks rather than importers of mass-produced trinkets; the textile and jewelry tables are the exception worth inspecting closely, as a few resell imported pieces alongside handmade ones. Cash is the norm at nearly every stall, and small bills are appreciated since change can be limited; prices on food and produce are fixed, while artisan goods leave some room for polite negotiation. The atmosphere is unhurried and social, with shoppers greeting vendors by name, live acoustic music at times, and shaded tables for eating prepared food on-site. The market runs along a single stretch of street, so newcomers can walk it end to end in under thirty minutes, though the produce and prepared-food stalls at the north end draw the longest lines by mid-morning.
