Bucerías Beach Boardwalk & Malecón

Bucerías sits along the northern edge of the Bahía de Banderas in Nayarit, just across the state line from Puerto Vallarta, and its beach boardwalk (malecón) runs along Avenida del Pacífico beside a long, gently curving stretch of sand. The malecón is lined with public art installations, including sculptures and murals contributed by local and international artists, alongside beachfront restaurants and bars that fill in the evening. The beach itself is wide and relatively uncrowded compared to Puerto Vallarta's malecón, with calm swimming conditions and a long walkable shoreline popular for sunset strolls. A weekly art walk held during high season brings galleries in town to open their doors with live music and food vendors along the boardwalk. A visit combining a walk along the malecón, beach time, and a meal typically takes one to three hours, and sunset is the signature time to visit, when the boardwalk fills with both residents and visitors watching the sun drop over the bay. Daytime hours are quieter and better suited to swimming without the evening crowds.
