Tacos Las Mixtas

Tacos Las Mixtas is an evening-only taco stand on the Manzanillo-Zihuatanejo highway at Maruata, known along Michoacán's coast for tacos noticeably larger than the standard size found elsewhere. It has become the default dinner stop for surfers and campers staying on Maruata's beach, given both its late hours and its proximity to the coast's informal accommodation scene. The taco mixto de res is the signature order, alongside quesadillas de asada and a five-taco combination plate for larger appetites. The setting is a simple roadside stand rather than a restaurant, with plastic tables and stools typical of Mexican taquerías rather than any dining-room atmosphere. There is no beverage programme beyond soft drinks and possibly beer; this is a food stop rather than a bar. Prices are low, 30-140 MXN per person, in keeping with the roadside taco format. It only opens in the evening, from 7PM to 10:30PM, and does not serve during the day, so travellers should plan a dinner rather than a lunch visit; no reservations apply to this kind of stand.
